MERA DADDU is a heart-warming story of a grandfather and his orphaned grandson, Aslam. Daddu eeks a meager living by foraging for recyclables from a landfill. They live in a slum, but Daddu has resolved to give Aslam a better future not infested with the rotting life that he has had to live. It is a story of misfortune, love, and triumph with a message of environmental stewardship and social change.
MERA DADDU is a story that is close to my heart and one that touches upon the tragedy of the Godhara communal massacre that took place in 2002 in India.
There were many lives lost and children orphaned. In my story, Aslam is one such boy.
MERA DADDU is also a story of struggle, determination, joy and triumph – emotions felt by both Aslam and his grandfather (Shishir Sharma) who wants to give Aslam a life of dignity and respect.
