About Film Festival 2019

June 28–30, 2019. Maryland.

  • The 3rd Nepal America International Film Festival will begin with Red Carpet Opening Ceremony, screening of the opening film, and meet and greet on Friday, June 28 at AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, Silver Spring, Maryland.
  • Screening of the festival films will run from Saturday, June 29 through Sunday, June 30 at Regal Cinemas Hyattsville Royale 14 at 6505 America Blvd, Hyattsville, Maryland.
  • Panel Discussions will be held at Brentwood Arts Exchange at 3901 Rhode Island Ave, Brentwood, Maryland.
  • The festival will close on Sunday, June 30, with Red Carpet Closing and Award Ceremony, the screening of the closing film, and Meet and Greet – at AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, Silver Spring, Maryland.

    Nepal America International Film Festival (NAIFF) is an annual film event organized by Nepal America Film Society. Every year, it brings together more than 3 thousands film enthusiasts from Maryland and greater Washington DC region including filmmakers, volunteers, community leaders, film and community organizations and businesses.

    The festival showcases all genres of films including feature lengths, documentaries, animations, experimental and shorts from Nepal, America and other countries. Films from the Global Peace Film Festival Florida are also screened in the Special Sidebar Section. Additionally, films from the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia are screened as DMV Close-up Section.

    Organization Mission

    Nepal America Film Society (NAFS) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization based in Maryland, USA, whose mission is to bring together diverse arts and cultures through cinema. NAFS creates an international platform to promote film culture by organizing screenings, festivals, conferences and exchange programs. Since its inception in 2016, NAFS has been organizing annual Nepal America International Film Festival in Maryland.

    NAFS strongly believes that cinema is the most powerful medium for effectively portraying diverse stories of people and communities. Films provide a unique opportunity to understand cultural diversity and connect the worlds – without the barrier of language. NAFS has built a unique platform for filmmakers from Nepali background, sharing the platform with other Asian American and other diaspora, American and international film enthusiasts in Maryland and beyond.
