2023 FESTIVAL OVERVIEW

The NAIFF is set to take place from 22-25 June 2023 at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center and Old Greenbelt Theater in Maryland. The festival showcases all genres of films, including feature-length, documentaries, animation, experimental, and shorts from Nepal, America, South Asia, and all over the world.

Since its inception, the film festival has partnered with the Global Peace Film Festival Florida for the Sidebar section. Additionally, the festival will feature a special DMV Close-up Section highlighting films from Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

The Film Festival begins with an opening ceremony and red carpet event, followed by the opening film. Special guests from embassies, art, cultural, and community organizations will attend the ceremony, and all invited artists, filmmakers, guests, Nepali Diaspora community leaders, entrepreneurs, and local organization leaders will be recognized.

Throughout the festival, a variety of events will take place, including talk programs and panel discussions at Gateway Arts Center, supported by the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

The festival will culminate with a closing ceremony, which includes a red carpet event and award ceremony, followed by the closing film. Films selected by juries will be awarded in different categories, and all participating films at the festival will be recognized during the ceremony. Volunteers and supporters will also receive certificates and recognition for their contributions.
