NAIFF2024 will take place from Thursday, June 20 to Sunday, June 23 at the AFI Silver Theater and Culture Center in Silver Spring and at the Greenbelt Cinema in Greenbelt, Maryland. Thirty-five films, including shorts and features, from 11 countries will be screened during the festival.
This year’s festival will also feature two films as part of the Global Peace Film Festival Sidebar—In Search of Resolution (USA), directed by Robert E. Frye, and The Strait Guys (Germany), directed by Rich Minnich. The award-winning documentary, No Winter Holidays, directed by Rajan Kathet and Sunir Pandey, and the latest documentary by award-winning director Kesang Tseten, Diversity Plaza, will also be screened at the festival.
A Road to a Village, directed by Nabin Subba, premiered at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival in 2023 and is set to open NAIFF2024 on June 20 at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center. The screening will follow a red-carpet event featuring guests and filmmakers. Closing the festival at the same venue on June 23 will be The Red Suitcase, directed by Fidel Devkota, which debuted at the Venice Film Festival in 2023.
Throughout the festival, a variety of events supported by the Maryland National Capital Parks and Planning Commission will also take place, including a masterclass and a panel discussion on Women in Film at the Brentwood Arts Exchange.
