NAIFF-Nepal America International Film Festival Announces Winners

The jury of NAIFF2023-Nepal America International Film Festival announced this year’s winners during the Closing Night Awards Ceremony at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center.

The festival took place from June 22 to June 25 at the AFI Silver Theater and Culture Center in Silver Spring, and at the Old Greenbelt Theatre in Greenbelt, Maryland. Thirty-eight films from 11 countries, including shorts and features, were screened during the festival.

Best Feature Narrative:

Secrets of Radha — Winner | Director: Subarna Thapa
Joyland — Honorable Mention | Director: Saim Sadiq
Butterfly on a Windowpane — Honorable Mention | Director: Sujit Bidari

Best Short Narrative:

The Mirage — Winner | Director: Santosh Dahal
Wheels on the Bus — Honorable Mention | Director: Surya Shahi

Best Feature Documentary (tie):

Pianoman — Winner | Director: Sunny Wenxin Liu
Pasang: In the Shadow of Everest — Winner | Director: Nancy Svendsen
Into the Mist — Honorable Mention | Directors: Sachin Ghimire, Gaurab KC

Best Short Documentary:

Mero Buwa — Winner | Directors: Shrisha Kunwar, Angela Chaudhary
Do Ducks Migrate — Honorable Mention | Director: Midhun G Babu

Empowerment Award:

Coming out Time Machine — Winner | Director: Naman Gupta
Freedom of Expression:
Where the Winds Die — Winner | Director: Pejman Alipour
